Saving Kukkia from microplastics - an ecological heritage boat for Lake Kukkia 

Vendia Woods was born out of love for the traditional Käenniemi boat. We produce a small number of Käenniemi rowing boats every year.  The Vendia rowing boat is durable in use, easy to maintain and store over the winter.

“Käenniemi” Rowing boat

The “Käenniemi boat” is a traditional rowing boat that has been made by the Käenniemi family around Lake “Kukkia” for over 100 years. The boat model was developed for Kukkia's rugged ridges and shallow water bays. It floats well in shallow waters but is still a stable fishing boat.

Venda's aim is to preserve the “Käenniemi” boat-building skills for future generations. Vendia has set up a boatbuilder network, where the previous generation of Käenniemi boat builders trains hobbyists and carpenters to become boat builders.
